Impressive reasoning behind your opinion. I'm sure that Lucario will be included in Brawl and if not, a pokemon like him will appear in his place. I'm waiting for other third party icons like Rayman or Sonic. Rather Sonic in Brawl than Olympics.
Why Rayman? He's not that great.
Admit it that in Rayman Raving Rabbids, it's the Rabbids that people care about, not Rayman.
I think it would be nice if they put a 4th gen pokemon in. Lucario probably has the best chances, I agree.
I would be content with another metroid character. . Even if they were an assist trophy.
Not a whole lot of other characters come to mind really, maybe it would help if I played any of the prime games though.
I've never been one for pokemon, but from what I've heard about Lucario (I'm a regular on the NSider boards) he's very highly requested
My ideal pokemon roster would be:
1 - Pikachu
2 - Jigglypuff (It's tradition)
3 - Lucario (Highly requested)
4 - Mewtwo (Made less awful) or Blaziken (Highly requested)

I hate to contradict my friend but just because SEGA made those games on the Nintendo doesn't mean they like them. Try finding some Sega commercials from the past, like the Sega CD and "What does blast processing do?", they claimed Nintendo as an inferior console to theirs. If you know how business works (probably you know by now) you would see the obvious propaganda Sega used.
Also Sonic was created and then turned into their mascot, their previous mascot was Alex Kidd, as an attempt bring down Mario, but as time showed they failed.
Also have to agree/disagree with you about Rayman. He's a good character, but the recent game was not him the main character, but those white shit with ears (i believe Ubisoft calls them rabbids, not that i really care). And the game was an obvious ripoff (did i spell it right?) of Mario Party. Oh well, we'll just have to wait and see how Ubisoft will take it when Rayman Raving Rabbids 2 will be declared as a pile of bullcrap. What do you think?

Regarding the metroid characters, I meant one of the hunters. Sylux, Trace, Kanden, Noxus, Weavel, Spire. The Prime series could bring more metroid into it. Stages (Chozo Ruins, Great Temple, Oubliette), characters (the hunters), Items (Light Crystal) , and assist trophies(Space Pirates, Gorea).

Are any of the MPH characters actually worth adding to brawl? Nobody seems all that fussed. I haven't play MPH since I'm not a fan of FPS.

It's just the fact that Metroid is my favorite series. It wouldn't bother me too much if the hunters weren't in it. I'd just stick with good old Samus. I probably will stick with her.

Nobody knows for sure, but Ice Climbers, Pichu, Young Link, Dr Mario, Mr Game & Watch, Roy, Falco, Ganondorf, Mewtwo and Sheik are hypothesised as possible removals because either they sucked, they were clones or had an unusual circumstance of involvement, like G&W being a joke character or Sheik being Zelda's transformation.

Yeah, now that Deo is an AT Lucario seems like he is the only canidate left to represent 4th Generation Pokemon. Pichu replacement in my opinion.
I'm still going 100% all out for Geno. He's always been one of my favorite game characters.

Final Smash: Chocobo Stampede
Up+B: Flap it's wings perhaps?
Side+B: Chocobo Run!*can trample opponents*
Down+B: Turn into Fat Chocobo and sit on them?
In other words, his moves would resemble that of Yoshi.
